Let’s face it, 4 inch stiletto pumps, like the classic Louboutins above available at Saks for a retail of close to $700, can make any woman’s legs look, well.. killer. But could killer heels be hurting your legs? What of the thousands of women, such as myself, who swear by their heels?
So much of shopping is the classic economic conundrum of supply vs. demand… basically, how much are you willing to pay? Sure, we’d all love a closet full of designer shoes, but aside from being unaffordable for most, are they even worth it? In an word, yes, they are. Here’s why:
Designer pumps, such as Louboutins, Manolos, and Jimmy Choos, are handcrafted and made of durable materials with the goal of supporting the foot for a beautiful product. These shoes will last forever, actually making that shoe tailor as necessary as your regular tailor. Sure, they may need a little maintenance, but gone are the days when your favorite pair of shoes are beyond reasonable repair when wearing designer. Secondly, they are “designed” to be wearable. Maybe not as comfortable as your sneakers, but as any devoted heel maven knows, after a time heels become comfortable in their own right. Or maybe it is just the subconscious knowledge that your thighs really do look a bit thinner.
However, just because they may be worth the $600 you’d need to shell out, does not mean that you actually can or will. Therefore, some great brands to try are Aldo Shoes or Steve Madden. Both companies offer stylish heels at around $65 a pair.
