Mascara Tips

Mascara is a tricky product. You have to take a stick with essentially thick paint, and move it around right next to your eye… kinda makes you wonder how anyone can get something so tricky right. Here is a collection of the best tips and tricks I know for a perfect application of mascara that won’t run or clump:

We all know the importance of a base coat. You prime your face, nails, eyelids, and hair… so of course, you should be priming your lashes for mascara, but you probably aren’t. Swipe a coat of mascara primer/thickener, or in a pinch clear mascara, on your lashes prior to applying black mascara. Also, befriend your eyelash curler… it is the best investment you will make in your eye arsenal.

Quality is very important. Think of it this way, its going to eventually get in your eye, and you don’t want anything that will be excessively irritating. The best mascara I have found is Maybelline Great Lash, the classic in the pink bottle with green lid that nearly every woman in America owns. Lancome and Estee Lauder also make a great product.

Make sure you are using a waterproof formula if you will be attending any event where you are likely to cry, sweat profusely, or get soaked. Remember that you will need eye makeup remover when using this formula.

I’d love to hear any other tips and tricks, let’s put the comments feature to use!
