I remember carefully dissecting a fall issue of American Vogue several years ago and seeing Andre Talley (former Editor at Large, now listed as a Contributing Editor) in a flowing, floor length, Scorcese red cape. I was at first puzzled, then intrigued, but most of all impressed that Andre, a man of impressive stature, dared to pull off what most people would consider a costume. Nipped at the neck over a black suit, the finished look could only be described as glamorous and a bit too much. In other words, just right.
The cape has returned as the fall season “it” item, and even those of us who might initially shy away from such an unlikely winter choice, I believe that there is a version of the cape style for every individual, and that this fashionably cozy piece will soon become the newest staple in winter fashion must-haves.
