Yesterday sad news spread across the fashion world – all 42 pieces of the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012 collection was stolen from a train in transit to Paris.
Marc Jacobs PR team broke the bad news in an email just before their big press day yesterday. The email read:
“Dear all, The Marc Jacobs PR team is sorry to inform you that our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is canceled, due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collections during its transfer from Paris.”
This theft clearly has no idea about fashion. Who would do such a thing – steal sample sizes of an undistributed, highly-anticipated, well-known fashion designer’s collection near the fashion capital of the world? Seriously.
[Updated] According to Marc Jacobs Twitter, they are not letting the stolen samples stop them even offering up a reward and number to call if the merch is spotted:
See drivers cruising around Europe dressed in #SS12 Collection? Get a pic & call 212-343-0222. Reward.
